WhatsApp To Add New Privacy Update

In modern-day messaging apps, encryption plays a vital role in safeguarding conversations. WhatsApp, having provided end-to-end encryption for chats and video calls, continues to enhance the visibility of encryption indicators. The latest beta version includes an indicator positioned beneath the contact or group’s name.

According to WABetaInfo’s findings, the feature initially surfaced in January within WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.3.17. Now, with the latest beta (version 2.24.6.11), the indicator, displaying “end-to-end encrypted” accompanied by a small lock, appears to be gaining broader visibility.

The encryption indicator won’t be constant; WABetaInfo notes it will briefly show and later be replaced by the last-seen indicator. Users can manually verify encryption in the Encryption tab on the contact info page. While its impact on everyday users is debatable, this feature can be valuable for newcomers to WhatsApp, especially those assessing its encryption standards.

WhatsApp thoroughly explains its encryption standards within the app, covering text, chats, and video/voice calls. Even status updates on the platform are end-to-end encrypted, as outlined in its mobile apps.
