How to use NameDrop on iPhone
NameDrop is a new approach to AirDrop in iOS 17. So, instead of waiting for another person to appear, simply bump your iPhones. On your iPhone, follow these steps to use NameDrop. You can share contacts with anyone who has an iPhone using NameDrop. Alternatively, you can use AirDrop to send photographs, movies, files, and other media.First and foremost, both your iPhone and the other person’s iPhone must be running iOS 17. Furthermore, NameDrop is only available on iPhones with iOS 17.
Follow the steps below to enable AirDrop on your iPhone.
- Open Settings, scroll down to General, and select AirDrop.
- Toggle the Bringing Devices Together option under the Start Sharing By section now.
- NameDrop should allow you to switch numbers. With this option enabled, you can also use NameDrop to exchange photographs, movies, and other media.
- So, now that you’ve enabled the Bringing Devices Together option, how do you use NameDrop? Well, it’s as easy as AirDrop
To share Contacts
A glow will appear from the top of both devices to signify that a connection is being established. Hold the button down until NameDrop shows on both screens. After that, you and the recipient have two alternatives. To begin, pick ‘Receive Only’ to receive the other iPhone’s contact card. You can also choose ‘Share’ to obtain the other iPhone’s contact card and share your own.
If you change your mind and wish to cancel the process, move the two iPhones apart before NameDrop is finished.
Now, follow the steps outlined above to share photographs, videos, and other media.
- Navigate to the photo, video, or file that you wish to share.
- Choose to share the file, and then select AirDrop.
- Put the iPhones together and stack them on top of one another. If you don’t have an iPhone, select a device from the list.
- Check that both iPhones have AirDrop enabled and are set to Contacts. Choose Everyone for 10 minutes if the contact is not saved on your iPhone.
