OnePlus Watch 2 Enhances User Experience with New Data Migration Feature

OnePlus Watch 2 users have reason to celebrate as the latest update to the OHealth companion app brings a much-needed data migration feature. This feature allows users to seamlessly transfer their health and fitness data across phones without the need for cloud synchronization.

The update, labeled OHealth v4.21.5, introduces several notable improvements. Chief among them is the addition of a “migrate data” option within the profile settings of the app. This functionality enables users to transfer their workout and health data to a new device, provided both the old and new phones are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. The process initiates with a QR code scan and requires users to sign into the same OHealth account on both devices.

In addition to the data migration feature, the OHealth update brings enhanced control options for OnePlus Watch 2 users. Users can now toggle auto-launch media control settings directly from the companion app, allowing for seamless integration with media playback on their smartphones. Furthermore, the update introduces the ability to toggle “Raise to Wake” functionality and set an auto-screen off-time, features previously accessible only through the smartwatch itself.

Notably, these enhancements come without the need for an update on the OnePlus Watch 2 itself. Users can simply update the OHealth app via the Google Play Store or opt to sideload the update if it’s not yet available.

While the addition of the data migration feature addresses a common pain point for users, some still await further improvements to make the OnePlus Watch 2 a standout device in the Wear OS ecosystem. Notably absent is the ability to switch between phones without a complete reset, a feature present in other Wear OS smartwatches. Nonetheless, with ongoing updates and improvements, the OnePlus Watch 2 continues to evolve, offering users a more seamless and versatile wearable experience.
