Samsung confirms One UI 7 rollout! Starting with the Galaxy S25 on Jan 22.

Samsung has officially announced the rollout timeline for its much-anticipated One UI 7 update, based on Android 15. With the Galaxy S25 series launch just around the corner, the tech giant is also gearing up to unveil new AI-powered features and the highly awaited One UI 7.

Rollout Schedule

Samsung has confirmed that all compatible Galaxy S series smartphones will receive the One UI 7 update by the end of the first quarter of 2025, with the rollout expected to conclude by March 31, 2025. The update will debut alongside the launch of the Galaxy S25 series on January 22, 2025, during the Galaxy Unpacked event.

Although the timeline might primarily apply to the Korean market, Samsung’s global rollout strategy typically follows a similar pattern. Therefore, Galaxy users worldwide can expect the update to arrive around the same timeframe. Interestingly, the press release did not mention the latest flagship foldables, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6, raising questions about their inclusion in this schedule.

Successful Beta Testing

In a press release from Samsung Korea, the company revealed that the One UI 7 beta has been its most successful beta program to date, with the first beta update closing twice as fast as the One UI 6 beta. Feedback during the beta testing phase has been overwhelmingly positive, particularly regarding the new AI-powered features. Samsung has been actively refining the software based on user input to ensure a smooth and optimized experience upon release.

What’s New in One UI 7?

One UI 7 is packed with features and design upgrades that aim to enhance usability and aesthetics. Key highlights include:

The Now Bar:

A pill-shaped, dynamically updating bar on the lock screen, similar to Apple’s Dynamic Island. This feature allows users to control music playback, timers, and other functions directly from the lock screen.

Redesigned Quick Settings Panel:

A fresh, intuitive design for the Quick Settings menu that makes it easier to access key functions at a glance.

Vertical App Drawer:

For the first time, Samsung introduces a vertical scrolling app drawer, offering a seamless and modern browsing experience.

Updated App Icons and UI Tweaks:

The update brings new app icons and subtle system-wide changes, creating a cleaner and more cohesive visual experience.

Improved Camera App Interface:

The camera app has been revamped for better accessibility, with a focus on simplifying advanced settings.

AI Features Take Center Stage

One UI 7 integrates new AI capabilities that have been a significant focus during beta testing. Samsung emphasized that these features have received substantial attention, and improvements are being made to align with user feedback. While specific details are yet to be disclosed, the integration of AI is expected to improve usability across various aspects of the UI.

A Global Rollout Strategy

Samsung plans to provide more details about the global rollout schedule during the Galaxy Unpacked event. With One UI 7, Samsung continues to push the boundaries of Android customization, ensuring flagship users benefit from the latest innovations.
