iPhone 17 Air Could Be Apple’s Thinnest Yet with a Surprisingly Small Battery

A fresh leak has revealed that the upcoming iPhone 17 Air will be Apple’s thinnest iPhone ever—just 5.5mm thick. It’s also expected to weigh only 145 grams, making it lighter than most flagship phones today. The device will feature a 6.6-inch screen, a Camera Control button, Dynamic Island, and a 120Hz refresh rate across all iPhone 17 models.

But the big talking point is the battery. The iPhone 17 Air might only have a 2,800mAh battery, much smaller than the 3,900mAh battery in Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge. For 2025, that’s considered pretty low, especially when even budget phones now offer 5,000–6,000mAh.

Still, Apple might use high-density battery tech to boost performance by up to 20%. There’s also talk of an AI-powered battery-saving feature that could help stretch battery life.

Some critics think Apple is intentionally limiting battery size to sell more accessories, while others believe it’s all about making the device feel incredibly slim and premium.

The iPhone 17 Air will reportedly be cheaper than the iPhone 17 Pro, which starts at $999. The full iPhone 17 lineup—including the Air, Pro, and Pro Max—is expected to launch in September or October 2025.
