Huawei Band 9 Review
Huawei has officially thrown down the gauntlet to competitors in the lightweight wearable market with its latest release, the Huawei Band 9. Positioned as a direct competitor to offerings such as the Fitbit Inspire 3 and Amazfit Band 7, this ultra-thin smartwatch boasts a 1.47-inch AMOLED screen and a battery life of approximately two weeks.
Design and Battery Life
Sticking to its predecessor’s form factor, the Huawei Band 9 features a rectangular case with a weight of 0.5 ounces and a thickness of 9mm. Its standout feature remains the vivid 1.47-inch AMOLED touch display, complemented by a single physical button on the side. With water resistance up to 50 meters, it’s suitable for brief water exposure but not recommended for extended swimming sessions. Battery life remains impressive, offering up to 14 days under optimal conditions or nine days with regular use. The device comes in five colors, featuring softer and more durable rubber straps, with an additional woven antibacterial yarn option available in blue.
Health and Fitness Features
Although physical changes are minimal, the Band 9 introduces upgraded health monitoring technology and enhanced processing algorithms. A new nine-axis motion sensor promises improved workout tracking accuracy, especially for swimmers. Additionally, an ambient light sensor adjusts screen brightness based on surroundings to conserve battery life. Software updates focus on refining vital signs monitoring, heart rate accuracy, SpO2 readings, stress management tools, and menstrual health tracking. Sleep-tracking capabilities now include monitoring for abnormal breathing patterns alongside blood oxygen levels and heart rate, providing detailed insights and workout recommendations.
Smartwatch Features
Smart features are modest on the Huawei Band 9, lacking support for mobile payments, maps, or offline music storage. Bluetooth notifications and remote music control are included, but no other significant additions are present.
Outlook
While the Huawei Band 9 represents a modest upgrade over its predecessor, existing Band 8 owners may find little incentive to switch. Pricing details are yet to be announced, but expectations hover around $60, similar to the previous model. The global availability and release timeline, including the possibility of a U.S. launch, remain undisclosed.
Priced competitively, the Band 9 faces tough competition from the Fitbit Inspire 3 and Xiaomi Smart Band 8 series, offering similar features at lower price points. Time will determine whether the Band 9’s enhancements, particularly in wellness and tracking accuracy, are sufficient to establish Huawei as the leader in the lightweight smartwatch category. Oppo Find X8 Ultra: With its sleek 7.9mm thickness and weight of 193g, the Find X8 Ultra strikes a balance between form and function. The aluminum alloy body with Gorilla Glass 7i provides durability while maintaining a premium look. Its IP68 rating ensures it is both dustproof and waterproof up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes.
Vivo X200 Ultra: A slightly bulkier device at 8.0mm and 197g, it features a glass body that is also protected by Gorilla Glass, offering good resistance to scratches and drops. The X200 Ultra shares the IP68 rating, making it equally resistant to dust and water. Both phones use high-end materials, though the Vivo feels a bit more substantial.

Its 120Hz refresh rate ensures smooth interaction, though the absence of Dolby Vision means it may not offer the same cinematic experience as the Find X8 Ultra.
Verdict: The Oppo Find X8 Ultra edges out slightly in display quality with Dolby Vision support, ideal for media consumption. The Vivo X200 Ultra, while excellent, lacks this feature.

Oppo Find X8 Ultra: Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset, it offers an octa-core CPU with a 3nm architecture. Coupled with 12GB RAM and UFS 4.0 storage, the Find X8 Ultra provides fast and smooth performance for everyday tasks and intensive applications.
Vivo X200 Ultra: The Vivo X200 Ultra is equally equipped with the Dimensity 9400 chipset and offers the same RAM and storage configurations. Both phones are highly efficient in handling multitasking and heavy apps. However, Vivo’s optimizations in the OriginOS contribute to smooth performance, with slightly better thermal management reported.
