Why Dark Mode?

Before we dive into the “how,” let’s briefly discuss the “why.” Dark mode, also known as night mode or dark theme, has gained immense popularity for several reasons:

  4. Accessibility: Dark mode can improve readability for users with certain visual impairments.

Enabling Dark Mode on Android Devices

Enabling dark mode on Android devices may vary depending on the brand and model, but here are general steps to follow:

  • Facebook: Open the app, tap the three horizontal lines in the bottom right corner, scroll down and tap “Settings & Privacy,” then “Dark Mode.”
  • Twitter: Open the app, tap your profile picture in the top left corner, select “Settings and privacy,” then “Display and sound,” and finally “Dark mode.”
  • WhatsApp: Open the app, tap the three vertical dots in the top right corner, select “Settings,” then “Chats,” and choose “Theme.”
  • Instagram: Unfortunately, Instagram doesn’t provide an in-app dark mode setting, but it will follow your device’s system-wide dark mode settings if enabled.

Customising Your Dark Mode Experience

Once you have enabled dark mode on your phone, you can often customize it further:

  • Dark Theme Variations: Some devices allow you to choose different variations of dark mode, such as “AMOLED black” or “gray.”
  • Wallpapers: Consider setting a dark-themed wallpaper to complement your dark mode. This can be both visually appealing and power-efficient on OLED screens.
  • Scheduling: Many devices and apps let you schedule dark mode to turn on and off automatically at specific times or based on sunrise and sunset times.

The Benefits of Dark Mode

Now that you know how to enable dark mode on your phone let’s revisit the benefits:

  1. Reduced Eye Strain: Your eyes will thank you for the decreased blue light exposure.
