Apple Reportedly Ending Updates for a Apple Watch Model with WatchOS 11

Apple enthusiasts awaiting the next big update for their Apple Watches might be in for disappointment, as recent reports suggest that the upcoming WatchOS 11 won’t be available for one of the company’s esteemed models.

According to a report by iPhoneSoft, the iconic Apple Watch Series 4 is not slated to receive the watchOS 11 update this year. Instead, the update is expected to be rolled out to a list of other Apple Watch models, including the Series 5, Series 6, Series 7, Series 8, Series 9, Apple Watch SE, Apple Watch SE 2, Apple Watch Ultra, and Apple Watch Ultra 2.

While this decision might not come as a shock to some, given the Series 4’s release in 2018 and Apple’s typical software support duration, which isn’t explicitly guaranteed, it still marks the end of an era. The Series 4 has already enjoyed over five years of software support, debuting with watchOS 5 and receiving updates up to watchOS 10 last year.

For many users, the Series 4 holds a special place due to its significant enhancements, such as a larger display, the introduction of the ECG app, fall detection, and more. It served as the go-to Apple Watch for numerous individuals until they upgraded to newer models like the Apple Watch Series 8.
