Xreal Launches Beam Pro: An Android Device for AR Glasses

Xreal, renowned for its sleek augmented reality (AR) glasses, has unveiled its latest innovation: the Beam Pro. This new device is designed to enhance the AR experience by acting as a dedicated companion to Xreal’s glasses, bridging the gap left by its previous models.

A New Approach to AR

The Beam Pro is more than just a tablet; it’s a touchpad, spatial camera, and a robust battery pack all in one. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6, with an optional 5G model available for seamless streaming on the go. Dual USB-C ports allow simultaneous charging and connection to the glasses, supporting 27W fast charging.

Integration with Xreal Glasses

The Beam Pro is designed to work seamlessly with Xreal’s AR glasses, including the Air, Air 2, and Air 2 Pro models, which offer 3 degrees of freedom (DoF). The Air 2 Ultra glasses provide an even more immersive 6 DoF experience. This integration ensures that users can fully leverage the capabilities of their AR glasses without compatibility issues often encountered with regular smartphones.

Enhanced User Experience

One of the standout features of the Beam Pro is its ability to run two apps side by side in the user’s field of view, thanks to NebulaOS’s multitasking capabilities. This feature, along with access to the Google Play Store, ensures compatibility with millions of apps and games, making the Beam Pro a versatile device for both entertainment and productivity.

For streaming enthusiasts, the Beam Pro supports popular services like Netflix, Disney+, and Prime Video, allowing users to enjoy content on a virtual 130-inch screen. It also supports gaming applications such as Steam Link, Xbox Cloud Gaming, and Amazon Luna, with Nvidia’s CloudXR providing additional capabilities for users with GeForce RTX GPUs.

Market Position and Pricing

Priced at $200 for the base model, the Beam Pro is surprisingly affordable, especially when considering its advanced features. It offers a more integrated and reliable solution compared to its predecessor, the Beam, which faced criticism for its fiddly and unreliable performance.

Xreal’s Beam Pro represents a significant upgrade, transforming the way users interact with their AR glasses. By leveraging a mature device category, Xreal provides a smart and user-friendly approach to augmented reality. This device not only enhances the AR experience but also offers a practical and affordable solution for tech enthusiasts.

With the Beam Pro, Xreal continues to push the boundaries of AR technology, ensuring their glasses can connect seamlessly to a dedicated device, thus elevating the overall user experience.

Samsung Galaxy A36 is coming to the US with the powerful Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chip!

Samsung is gearing up to launch its latest mid-range smartphone, the Galaxy A36, with significant anticipation surrounding its performance and features. The device is set to debut in the U.S. with a Samsung-made Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset, a development that underscores Samsung’s focus on delivering powerful yet efficient mid-range options.

Chipset: Samsung-Made Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 Processor

The Galaxy A36’s standout feature is its Samsung-made Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset, which is also used in the global variant (SM-A366B). Fabricated on Samsung Foundry’s advanced 4nm process node (4LPX), this octa-core processor balances performance and efficiency. It comprises four Cortex-A78 CPU cores clocked at 2.4GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores running at 1.8GHz. The chipset integrates the Adreno 710 GPU, enabling smooth graphics performance and multitasking.

The Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 supports dual-channel 16-bit LPDDR4X or LPDDR5 RAM, Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6E, and multiple GNSS constellations, including BDS, Galileo, GLONASS, GPS, NavIC, and QZSS. Additionally, the system-on-chip is capable of handling up to 108MP camera sensors and recording 4K video at 30fps.

Benchmark Performance

In Geekbench (version 6.3) tests, the Galaxy A36 scored 967 points in single-core and 2,750 points in multi-core evaluations. These scores indicate that its performance is comparable to the Exynos 1380 chipset used in the Galaxy A35, which suggests limited performance improvements. However, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3’s more efficient 4nm fabrication process delivers better power management compared to the 5nm Exynos 1380, promising enhanced battery life.

Design and Display

Leaks suggest the Galaxy A36 will feature a sleek design and a 6.6-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. This combination ensures vibrant visuals and fluid performance for gaming, streaming, and productivity.

Battery and Charging

The Galaxy A36 is equipped with a 5000mAh battery, which is expected to last a full day of heavy usage. Thanks to its 25W fast charging support, users can quickly recharge their devices, minimizing downtime.

Camera Capabilities

Samsung is rumored to include a versatile triple-camera setup in the Galaxy A36. The primary sensor is a 50MP unit, complemented by an 8MP ultra-wide lens and a 2MP macro camera. On the front, a 13MP selfie camera ensures crisp and clear self-portraits and video calls.

Memory and Storage Options

The prototype tested on Geekbench included 6GB of RAM, but the Galaxy A36 is likely to offer additional configurations, possibly up to 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. Expandable storage via microSD card will also be available, catering to users who require extra space for apps, media, and files.

Software and Updates

Out of the box, the Galaxy A36 will run Android 15, paired with Samsung’s One UI 6.1. With Samsung’s commitment to extended software support, the device is expected to receive up to six years of Android OS updates, ensuring its longevity and relevance.

Global and U.S. Availability

The international version of the Galaxy A36 was tested on Geekbench back in October, and recent tests for the U.S. model confirm the use of the same Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 SoC. While the exact launch date remains under wraps, it is expected to arrive after the Galaxy S25 series, which will debut with Android 15 later this month.

Meanwhile, Samsung’s other mid-range options, including the Galaxy M06 5G and Galaxy F06 5G, have recently received Wi-Fi certification, confirming support for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi bands.

Samsung is reportedly launching a dual-foldable(tri-fold) phone in 2025!

Samsung has been at the forefront of foldable smartphone technology for years, regularly showcasing prototypes that push the boundaries of design. For the past 2–3 years, the tech giant has hinted at dual-folding smartphone concepts, leading many to anticipate a consumer launch. Yet, despite the excitement, such a device has not been introduced to the market—until now.

According to reports from South Korea, Samsung is preparing to launch its first dual-foldable phone, a hybrid device that blurs the line between smartphone and tablet. Slated for release in mid-2025, the device is expected to debut alongside the next-generation Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7, offering a glimpse into Samsung’s vision for the future of mobile technology.

What Makes This Device Unique?

Samsung’s dual-foldable phone will feature a revolutionary “G-shaped” folding mechanism. Unlike Huawei’s outward-folding models, Samsung’s design folds inwards twice, creating a more compact and durable form factor. By avoiding outward folding edges, the device minimizes the risk of screen damage, making it more robust than traditional S-shaped foldables.

Design and Functionality

When folded, the device will resemble a conventional smartphone, complete with a phone-like display. Fully unfolded, it transforms into a tablet-like device with a large, seamless screen. While it remains unclear if the device will include a dedicated cover screen, this innovative design promises unparalleled versatility for users.

The foldable display is being developed by Samsung Display, the company’s renowned display manufacturing arm. The hinges—arguably the backbone of the device—are undergoing rigorous testing by several manufacturers, including Korea’s FineMTech and KH Vatec, as well as China’s Huanli.

Camera Technology

Interestingly, Samsung’s dual-foldable phone will not include an under-display camera. While this decision may surprise some, it suggests that Samsung is prioritizing display performance and structural integrity over experimental camera placement for this model.

Limited Production Run

Samsung reportedly plans to produce fewer than 300,000 units of this innovative device. This limited run aligns with its strategy of testing the market for new technology while ensuring exclusivity for early adopters.

What to Expect from the Launch

Samsung’s tri-fold smartphone is expected to launch alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7 in mid-2025. With its dual-folding design, this device promises to deliver a cutting-edge experience that bridges the gap between smartphones and tablets.

Samsung’s venture into dual-foldable technology is a natural progression for the company, which has consistently led the foldable smartphone market. The new design not only enhances durability but also sets a benchmark for versatility in mobile devices. As the foldable market continues to grow, Samsung’s innovation signals a bright future for hybrid devices.
