Gurman: The iPhone 15 Pro series will include titanium frames and reduced bezels.
Mark Gurman’s most recent newsletter has some information to fill us in ahead of the major debut, which is anticipated to take place in September, as the iPhone 15 series is likely to include some notable modifications compared to last year’s crop of devices.
The new low-injection pressure over-molding (LIPO) display technology included in the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max will help reduce the bezels surrounding the display to just 1.5mm from the iPhone 14 Pro series’ 2.2mm. Apple has been using the LIPO display technology since the Apple Watch Series 7 and is now anticipated to introduce it to the iPhone Pro series and maybe the upcoming iteration of iPad Pro devices.

In a hands-on video from back in March, the glass panels of the iPhone 15 Pro were first seen. Ice Universe, a tipster, also posted a mock-up of what the potential new screens would look like. Dynamic Island cuts are anticipated to be added to the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, while the 120Hz ProMotion displays will only be available on the Pro models.
The transition to a titanium frame, which will be stronger and lighter than the present stainless steel implementation used since the iPhone X days, is the second significant change anticipated for the iPhone 15 Pro series.

The stainless steel frame might no longer be used.
Updated cameras will be added to the 15 Pro series, with the iPhone 15 Pro Max having a real periscope lens that offers 6x optical zoom.
Additionally, the Pro versions will feature a slightly modified rear design with softer edges and the Apple A17 chipset manufactured on TSMC’s 3nm node. The A16 SoC from last year will be used in the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus.
Gurman also thinks that the improved chassis design from the iPhone 14 will be adopted by the iPhone 15 series, making all subsequent Apple phones simpler to fix. The entire iPhone 15 generation has USB-C as an option.
The cost of all the additional features on this year’s iPhones is anticipated to be high, with the iPhone 15 Pro Max reportedly starting at $200 more than the iPhone 14 Pro Max and the 15 Pro at $100 more.
