Tecno Spark 20 Pro & Pro+ Review
In my opinion, the Tecno Spark series has always been quite appealing; the design is essentially consistent with any other phone on the market, and some even have distinctive colors and skins on the back, so you can always choose one to represent yourself the best. The Spark 20 Pro and Pro+ are the most recent additions to this series, and the Pro+, of course, did not exist previously. When I initially saw them, I was drawn to the Sunset Blush skin and the Bright Green vegan leather at the rear, but they have a lot more to offer, so let’s have a look.
Design
The rear of the Pro+ is made of a lovely and fine vegan leather that feels smooth to the touch and has merely a modest pattern across the circular camera module. The camera module, in particular, looks great; the rounded island ring elevates the cameras, and the metallic and brushed craft elevates the starry-like camera cover. Furthermore, there is a little protective ring around it, so the cameras are properly protected.
This first impression of the 20 Pro is really accurate to its name, which is similar to what you see as the sun goes down; the color is not harsh but rather a mild orange, with some blue reflecting from the sides. And the texture is like a fine knitted cloth, which softens the reflection and makes it less noticeable when viewed from a direct angle. The camera module, on the other hand, is a gleaming sunset-colored piece that, when combined with the cameras, looks great.
There are also several more colors available for these two models, which are also extremely attractive; click on the link below to learn more.
These two’s frames are likewise really gorgeous; they are all polished and frosted. All of the buttons are neatly arranged on the side, with the exception of the fingerprint reader on the Pro+, which is located beneath the screen and lacks a 3.5mm headphone port. Surprisingly, these two phones feature twin speaker designs at the top and bottom, they offer 400% huge volume, and you will hear the actual result at the end of this review.
Overall, I am pleased to see such an improvement in the appearance, which is one of the main reasons you would want this phone.
Screen
The screen of the 20 Pro+ is a 6.78″ AMOLED hole punch with a high refresh rate of 120 Hz. Visually, it’s an excellent screen; the colors are vibrant, and the viewing angle is excellent. You can comfortably browse through all types of material, and because it has an adaptive refresh technique, it will naturally alter the settings to produce a silky-smooth experience while saving some battery. It claims a 3-5% increase in efficiency; however, I doubt it would make a significant impact, so let’s just take their word for it. Because this phone has a curved screen, it feels great in the hand. So, if you have more stringent needs for the screen, this is the way to go. The 20 Pro includes all of the functionality of the Pro+, but the straight screen is more user-friendly. However, because it is an LCD screen, the viewing angle and color richness will be inferior to those of an AMOLED, but they will be enough for daily purposes.
Camera
So the cameras are both configured the same way here. A 108 MP main camera and two additional auxiliary cameras. Taking images with these two phones is a pleasant experience. They can take decent images throughout the day with good clarity and color accuracy. The scenery and living subjects are well photographed. One way I see it working is that it tends to brighten things up a bit in low-light settings because places other than the lights are darker than they appear in this scene.
When night falls, the Super Night Mode kicks in, allowing it to catch all of the subjects in the scene while maintaining good control over the highlight areas. When the front light is turned on, it automatically improves selfie performance by lighting up the face and background, resulting in a high-quality photograph. This is a one-of-a-kind function that not many phones have. These phones also allow 2K video recording, with the exception of the Pro+, which has an extremely steady mode but is limited to 1080P at 30 fps. The dual video capabilities of the cameras are a great feature; you can record with both the back cameras and the front-facing camera to provide a live view experience for individuals watching the video.
Performance
Tecno sponsors several sporting events throughout the world, including football and e-sports. Similar to certain Call of Duty events. As a result, they must have confidence in the performance, which also implies that the chip is of high quality.
Both have MTK G99 Ultra, 16GB RAM, 8GB physical, and 8GB virtual. In Geekbench5, it received 727 points for single-core and 14 points for multi-core, which are both respectable results for this processor. We haven’t noticed any lag in regular use, and the gameplay is also pretty smooth. The game in Call of Duty may operate at 60 Hz without any distortion and transition between apps without any lag.
In terms of operating systems, the Pro+ has Android 14 and the Pro has Android 13; there is no difference in daily use. Nonetheless, there are numerous highlights in the HiOS. For example, the Dynamic Port does not provide a completely new UX experience, but it does provide some valuable information when some programs are operating. Another feature is the built-in AI, which allows you to enter some keywords and then have an AI wallpaper created just for yourself; also, the AI will learn your habits and then provide some ideas for things you wish to do. Finally, the docking portal on the side is a system-implemented light load mission, It is a highly helpful feature that allows you to have quicker access to stuff.
