Samsung Officially Releases One UI 7.0 Beta

Samsung has officially released the One UI 7.0 beta, based on Android 15. Initially available for Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra users in Germany, South Korea, and the USA, the beta will roll out to India, Poland, and the UK in the coming days. With a massive download size of over 4.7GB and the inclusion of the December 2024 security patch, this update introduces a wide array of features, including a refreshed UI, AI tools, and enhanced privacy controls.

Refined User Interface and Navigation

One UI 7.0 showcases a complete redesign of the Quick Panel, Notifications, and multitasking interfaces. Notifications and Quick Panel have been separated into distinct screens, offering users intuitive swiping gestures for easier access.

Notifications: Larger, pill-shaped notifications for better visibility.

Quick Panel: Accessible via a swipe from the top-right corner, featuring customizable toggles and volume control.

Now Bar: A translucent pill-shaped element displays ongoing activities like calls, music playback, and timers, expanding for additional details on tap.

Users can also enable vertical scrolling in the app drawer—a long-requested feature—while Finder is now positioned at the bottom of the screen for improved reachability.

AI-Powered Enhancements

Samsung has significantly boosted AI integration in One UI 7.0 with the following features:

Writing Assist Tools: Accessible when selecting text, this tool provides grammar and tone checks, text summarization, and auto-formatting for notes.

Call Transcripts: Automatically transcribes recorded calls in 20 languages, eliminating the need for manual note-taking.

Galaxy AI: Features like Portrait Studio and Circle to Search simplify photo editing and problem-solving for math and science.

Camera Improvements

The stock Camera app now places essential controls at the bottom of the screen for better accessibility. Pro Photo and Pro Video modes introduce:

-Granular zoom controls for smoother transitions.

-Improved level indicators and grid options.

These updates allow users to focus more on capturing their moments rather than navigating complex menus.

Privacy and Security Upgrades

One UI 7.0 places significant emphasis on protecting user data:

Knox Matrix Dashboard: Monitors the security of connected Samsung devices and provides actionable recommendations to mitigate risks.

Enhanced Data Protection: Allows recovery of private data from lost devices with verified lock screen authentication.

Theft Protection: Requires biometric authentication to alter security settings in unfamiliar locations and includes a one-hour delay to prevent unauthorized changes.

Auto Blocker Enhancements: Disables 2G network access, blocks unsecured Wi-Fi connections, and warns about unverified app downloads.

Widget Customization and Personalization

Stock widgets have been enhanced with customizable designs and labels, and new animations have been added for smoother transitions. Samsung has also consolidated cloud backups into a unified app, improving accessibility.

Release Timeline

Samsung plans to release the stable version of One UI 7.0 for the Galaxy S24 series in Q1 2025, followed by a broader rollout to other Galaxy devices.
