Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra’s Camera Details Revealed Ahead of Launch

Recent leaks and updates have shed light on the camera system of Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S25 Ultra. Reports sourced from the Camera FV-5 platform confirm that this flagship device will bring refinements to its quad-camera setup and hardware, emphasizing a balance between evolutionary improvements and premium performance.

Key Camera Specifications

Reports indicate that the Galaxy S25 Ultra will retain its 200MP main sensor, similar to the Galaxy S24 Ultra. However, the 12.5MP output, achieved through 16:1 pixel binning, remains the same. The sensor specifications include an equivalent focal length of 23.2mm, an actual focal length of 6.3mm, and an f/1.7 aperture for enhanced light capture. It is also noted that both EIS and OIS will ensure stable video recording and reduced motion blur. ISO levels range between 12 and 3200, and the camera supports manual exposure settings spanning from 1/11,977 to 1/6 seconds. These features cater to both casual users and professionals seeking creative control.

Additional capabilities include support for both JPEG and DNG file formats and options for manual and auto-focus modes. While the Camera FV-5 listing highlights details of the primary sensor, specifics regarding other cameras are partially speculative.

Upgraded Lenses for Versatility

The ultra-wide lens is expected to see a major upgrade, transitioning from a 12MP sensor in the S24 Ultra to a 50MP sensor in the S25 Ultra. This improvement could enhance image quality in wide-angle shots. Similarly, the telephoto configuration includes a 50MP sensor with 5x optical zoom and a 10MP sensor with 3x optical zoom. Both are equipped with PDAF and OIS, providing flexibility for zoomed-in shots while retaining clarity and stability. While these upgrades improve specific aspects, they are seen as incremental rather than groundbreaking.

Performance and Design Enhancements

The Galaxy S25 Ultra will reportedly be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset globally, promising faster performance, improved efficiency, and support for advanced AI-based processing. Leaks also suggest the introduction of a 16GB RAM variant, offering users better multitasking capabilities and smoother handling of resource-intensive tasks such as high-resolution image processing.

Design changes include slightly rounded corners for better ergonomics and a narrower profile for enhanced grip. Dummy units further indicate refinements to its overall form factor, aiming to deliver a more user-friendly design.

While the Galaxy S25 Ultra is not expected to revolutionize smartphone cameras, it offers meaningful upgrades such as a higher-resolution ultra-wide lens and minor refinements to telephoto sensors. Paired with powerful hardware and a sleek design, the device maintains its position as a premium flagship. Enthusiasts and photographers can look forward to an enhanced experience, though the updates may feel incremental to existing Galaxy users.
