OPPO Find X6 Pro: A Masterful Fusion of Style and Substance

The OPPO Find X6 Pro arrives like a vibrant splash of color on the high-end smartphone scene. Expected launch is March 2024. It’s not just about the eye-catching aesthetics, though; this phone packs a powerful punch in terms of performance, camera prowess, and user experience. After spending two weeks immersed in its world, I’m ready to share my detailed review, dissecting its strengths, weaknesses, and everything in between, to help you decide if it deserves a place in your pocket.

Design: Beauty with Brains

First things first, the Find X6 Pro is a stunner. My review unit flaunted a gleaming ceramic white back that shimmered under light, and its curved edges felt like melting into my palm. The phone is noticeably lighter than many of its competitors, but thankfully, it doesn’t compromise on durability. The IP68 rating assures dust and water resistance, while the Gorilla Glass Victus+ shield promises scratch-proof resilience.

OPPO hasn’t forgotten the practicalities either. The under-display fingerprint sensor is fast and accurate, and the haptic feedback adds a delightful touch of responsiveness. The volume and power buttons are conveniently placed, and the alert slider on the left side is a welcome throwback to a time when physical controls felt more intuitive.

Display: A Feast for the Eyes

The 6.82-inch LTPO AMOLED display is a masterpiece. With a blazing 144Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of a staggering 2500 nits, it’s smooth as silk and bright enough to outshine the sun. Colors explode with vibrancy, thanks to the 10-bit panel and OPPO’s custom calibration. Watching HDR content is a truly immersive experience, with every detail and shadow rendered in exquisite detail. Eye comfort features like DC dimming and adaptive blue light reduction ensure your eyes stay happy even during marathon browsing sessions.

Performance: Powerhouse Untethered

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset paired with 16GB of RAM is a formidable combo. Whether you’re multitasking between demanding apps, editing 4K videos, or crushing the latest games, the Find X6 Pro glides through it all with a buttery smoothness. I barely encountered any lag or stutter, even when pushing the phone to its limits. Gaming is a particular delight, with the high refresh rate display and responsive touch controls keeping you ahead of the curve. OPPO’s ColorOS 13.1 runs like a well-oiled machine, offering a clean and intuitive interface with plenty of customization options.

Camera: Capturing Masterpieces

OPPO has partnered with the legendary Hasselblad for the Find X6 Pro’s camera system, and the results speak for themselves. The triple-lens setup – a 50MP main sensor with a massive 1-inch sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom—delivers exceptional picture quality in all lighting conditions. Daylight photos are simply stunning, with natural colors, incredible detail, and a dynamic range that captures the beauty of any scene. Low-light photography is where the Find X6 Pro truly shines. The large sensor and OPPO’s MariSilicon X NPU work together to produce bright, noise-free images even in near darkness. Portraits are particularly impressive, with accurate edge detection and beautiful background bokeh. The front-facing 32MP camera is no slouch either, capturing crisp selfies and flattering video calls. Video recording capabilities are on par with the best in the business. You can shoot in ultra-smooth 8K at 24fps or capture cinematic 4K footage at 120 fps. The MariSilicon X NPU also adds real-time HDR and AI scene recognition, ensuring your videos look stunning regardless of the environment.

Battery Life: Power Through Your Day

The 5000mAh battery is surprisingly efficient, easily lasting a full day on a single charge even with moderate usage. Thanks to OPPO’s 100W Super FlashCharge technology, the phone can be juiced up from 0 to 50% in just 10 minutes. This rapid charging capability is a lifesaver for those on-the-go moments when you need a quick power boost.

The Verdict: A Flagship Worthy of Its Name

The OPPO Find X6 Pro is a compelling argument for why the brand deserves a seat at the high-end smartphone table. It’s a phone that excels in almost every aspect – a gorgeous design, a dazzling display, relentless performance, a camera that captures the world in all its glory, and a battery that keeps up with your busy life. Sure, it comes at a premium price tag, but for those who demand the best, the Find X6 Pro delivers a truly flagship experience.

Oppo Find X8 Ultra vs. Vivo X200 Ultra

Design & Build Quality

Oppo Find X8 Ultra: With its sleek 7.9mm thickness and weight of 193g, the Find X8 Ultra strikes a balance between form and function. The aluminum alloy body with Gorilla Glass 7i provides durability while maintaining a premium look. Its IP68 rating ensures it is both dustproof and waterproof up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes.

Vivo X200 Ultra: A slightly bulkier device at 8.0mm and 197g, it features a glass body that is also protected by Gorilla Glass, offering good resistance to scratches and drops. The X200 Ultra shares the IP68 rating, making it equally resistant to dust and water. Both phones use high-end materials, though the Vivo feels a bit more substantial.

Verdict: Both devices offer premium designs, but the Oppo has a slight edge with a more compact form factor and similar build quality.

Display

Oppo Find X8 Ultra: It sports a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with an impressive 1256 x 2760 pixel resolution, offering vibrant colors, deep blacks, and high contrast ratios. The display supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, making it great for high-quality video streaming. It also features a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth scrolling and responsiveness.

Vivo X200 Ultra: The Vivo features a slightly larger 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1260 x 2800 pixels, also supporting HDR10+ but without Dolby Vision. Its 120Hz refresh rate ensures smooth interaction, though the absence of Dolby Vision means it may not offer the same cinematic experience as the Find X8 Ultra.

Verdict: The Oppo Find X8 Ultra edges out slightly in display quality with Dolby Vision support, ideal for media consumption. The Vivo X200 Ultra, while excellent, lacks this feature.

Performance

Vivo X200 Ultra: The Vivo X200 Ultra is equally equipped with the Dimensity 9400 chipset and offers the same RAM and storage configurations. Both phones are highly efficient in handling multitasking and heavy apps. However, Vivo’s optimizations in the OriginOS contribute to smooth performance, with slightly better thermal management reported.

Verdict: Vivo provides slightly more headroom for heavy multitasking with additional virtual RAM.

Camera Systems

Oppo Find X8 Ultra: Features a triple-camera setup with a 50MP primary wide-angle lens (f/1.8), a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50MP telephoto lens (f/2.6). It offers superb photo and video quality with features like Dolby Vision support for videos.

Vivo X200 Ultra: The Vivo X200 Ultra also boasts a triple 50MP camera array, including similar wide, ultra-wide, and telephoto lenses, but with slightly different apertures (f/1.57 for the wide lens). It supports advanced Zeiss optics for superior image processing, particularly in low light.

Verdict: Both cameras are top-tier, with the Vivo offering slightly better low-light performance and optical processing, while Oppo’s Dolby Vision support offers a richer video experience.

Battery Life & Charging

Oppo Find X8 Ultra: Comes with a 5630mAh battery, offering decent endurance. It supports 80W SuperVOOC fast charging but lacks wireless charging.

Vivo X200 Ultra: Features a larger 5800mAh battery, providing a bit more longevity. It supports 90W fast charging and 50W wireless charging, plus reverse wireless charging for added convenience.

Vivo X200 Ultra: Priced similarly, but with the added benefit of reverse wireless charging and slightly better camera optics, providing excellent value.

Verdict: Both phones provide excellent value at their price points, with the Vivo slightly edging out in battery and camera features.
