MediaTek Launches Helio G100 Chipset with Enhanced Camera and Gaming Features

MediaTek has officially unveiled its latest mobile chipset, the Helio G100, aimed at enhancing the mid-range smartphone experience. Built on TSMC’s advanced 6nm process, this new SoC (System on Chip) promises significant improvements in performance, camera capabilities, and gaming efficiency.

Key Specifications and Features

The Helio G100 chipset features an octa-core CPU, combining two high-performance Arm Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.2GHz with six efficiency-focused Cortex-A55 cores running at 2.0GHz. This setup ensures a balanced performance for a variety of tasks, from intensive gaming to everyday smartphone operations.

Graphics are handled by the Arm Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, designed to provide a smooth gaming experience. The chipset also includes MediaTek’s HyperEngine technology, which dynamically manages CPU, GPU, and memory resources to enhance gaming performance and reduce frame drops.

Camera Capabilities

One of the standout features of the Helio G100 is its support for advanced camera technologies. The chipset can handle up to a 200MP main camera, a significant upgrade from its predecessor, the Helio G99, which supported up to 108MP. It is equipped with a 50MP Sony IMX896 primary sensor, a 2MP depth sensor, and another 50MP front camera for selfies.

The Camon 30S Pro also boasts a 5000mAh battery with 45W wired charging and 20W wireless charging capabilities, making it the first Tecno phone to support wireless charging. Other features include 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM, 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage, and various connectivity options such as Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and an IR blaster.

Chipset: Samsung-Made Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 Processor

The Galaxy A36’s standout feature is its Samsung-made Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset, which is also used in the global variant (SM-A366B). Fabricated on Samsung Foundry’s advanced 4nm process node (4LPX), this octa-core processor balances performance and efficiency. It comprises four Cortex-A78 CPU cores clocked at 2.4GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores running at 1.8GHz. The chipset integrates the Adreno 710 GPU, enabling smooth graphics performance and multitasking.

The Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 supports dual-channel 16-bit LPDDR4X or LPDDR5 RAM, Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6E, and multiple GNSS constellations, including BDS, Galileo, GLONASS, GPS, NavIC, and QZSS. Additionally, the system-on-chip is capable of handling up to 108MP camera sensors and recording 4K video at 30fps.

 

Benchmark Performance

In Geekbench (version 6.3) tests, the Galaxy A36 scored 967 points in single-core and 2,750 points in multi-core evaluations. These scores indicate that its performance is comparable to the Exynos 1380 chipset used in the Galaxy A35, which suggests limited performance improvements. However, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3’s more efficient 4nm fabrication process delivers better power management compared to the 5nm Exynos 1380, promising enhanced battery life.

 

Design and Display

Leaks suggest the Galaxy A36 will feature a sleek design and a 6.6-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. This combination ensures vibrant visuals and fluid performance for gaming, streaming, and productivity.

The Galaxy A36 is equipped with a 5000mAh battery, which is expected to last a full day of heavy usage. Thanks to its 25W fast charging support, users can quickly recharge their devices, minimizing downtime.

Out of the box, the Galaxy A36 will run Android 15, paired with Samsung’s One UI 6.1. With Samsung’s commitment to extended software support, the device is expected to receive up to six years of Android OS updates, ensuring its longevity and relevance.

 

Global and U.S. Availability

The international version of the Galaxy A36 was tested on Geekbench back in October, and recent tests for the U.S. model confirm the use of the same Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 SoC. While the exact launch date remains under wraps, it is expected to arrive after the Galaxy S25 series, which will debut with Android 15 later this month.

Meanwhile, Samsung’s other mid-range options, including the Galaxy M06 5G and Galaxy F06 5G, have recently received Wi-Fi certification, confirming support for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi bands.
