Itel S24 Review

The Itel S24 has made a notable entrance into the budget smartphone market with a balanced mix of features that cater to both everyday users and tech enthusiasts. Released in April 2024, this device promises to deliver value without breaking the bank.

Design and Build Quality

The Itel S24 sports a sleek and modern design, measuring 163.5 x 75.5 x 8.3 mm and weighing in at 192 grams. Its slim profile and rounded edges make it comfortable to hold, while the choice of materials feels premium for a device in this price range. The phone is available in three colors: Dawn White, Coastline Blue, and Starry Black, appealing to a variety of aesthetic preferences.

Display

One of the standout features of the Itel S24 is its 6.6-inch IPS LCD display. With a resolution of 720 x 1612 pixels and a 20:9 aspect ratio, the screen offers decent clarity and vibrant colors. The 90Hz refresh rate ensures smoother scrolling and a more responsive touch experience, which is quite impressive for a budget device. The display peaks at 480 nits, providing adequate brightness for outdoor use.

Performance

Under the hood, the Itel S24 is powered by the Mediatek Helio G91 Ultra chipset, an octa-core processor with a configuration of 2×2.0 GHz Cortex-A75 and 6×1.8 GHz Cortex-A55 cores. Paired with the Mali-G52 MC2 GPU, the phone handles day-to-day tasks efficiently and even supports light gaming. The device runs on Android 13, offering a smooth and user-friendly interface with access to the latest Android features.

Memory and Storage

The Itel S24 offers multiple memory configurations: 128GB of internal storage with either 4GB or 8GB of RAM, and a 256GB variant with 8GB of RAM. This variety ensures users can choose a model that fits their storage needs and budget. Additionally, the phone supports microSDXC cards via a dedicated slot, allowing for further expansion of storage.

Camera

The camera setup on the Itel S24 is quite robust for a budget smartphone. The main camera boasts a 108 MP sensor with an f/1.6 aperture, promising detailed and sharp images. There’s also a 0.08 MP auxiliary lens. The camera performs well in good lighting conditions, capturing vibrant and well-exposed shots. Low-light performance is decent, thanks to the large aperture and LED flash. The main camera supports video recording at 1440p and 1080p at 30fps.

The front-facing camera is an 8 MP sensor capable of recording video at the same resolutions as the main camera. It produces satisfactory selfies and handles video calls with clarity.

Battery Life

Battery life is one of the strong points of the Itel S24. Equipped with a 5000 mAh non-removable Li-Po battery, the phone easily lasts through a full day of heavy use. It supports 18W wired charging and boasts bypass charging technology, allowing the battery to reach 50% charge in just 40 minutes, which is a significant advantage for users on the go.

Connectivity and Extras

The Itel S24 covers all essential connectivity options, including dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, and, region-dependent, NFC. The inclusion of a USB Type-C 2.0 port with OTG support is a welcome addition, making data transfer and peripheral connections more convenient. The device also features an FM radio with recording capabilities, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for added security.

The Itel S24 stands out as a compelling choice in the budget smartphone segment. It offers a well-rounded package with a vibrant display, solid performance, impressive battery life, and a high-resolution camera, all wrapped in a stylish design. While it may not compete with flagship devices in terms of raw power and high-end features, it delivers exceptional value for its price. Whether you’re a student, a professional on a budget, or someone looking for a reliable secondary phone, the Itel S24 is certainly worth considering.
