iPhone 16: Release Date, News, and More
Despite the fact that Apple only recently released the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro, rumors about the iPhone 16 range arriving in 2024 have already begun. It’s difficult to believe, but it’s true!
Release Date
Apple is likely to unveil and ship the iPhone 16 range in Fall 2024, as with other iPhone releases.
Unless there is a delay, such as in 2020, when the iPhone 12 was released in October, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro should be available in September. Things might always change, but this is what we expect for the time being.
Design
Apple appears to be changing the design of the iPhone 16 base model. According to a recent MacRumors story, three separate prototype models with diverse styles are on display. However, one thing all three have in common is a vertical twin-camera configuration. The vertical structure is most likely due to the spatial video recording for the Apple Vision Pro headset.
There are some differences between the three prototypes. One sports a pill-shaped camera similar to the iPhone X. The other two models have separate lenses, comparable to the iPhone 12. In addition, these prototype designs include a unified volume button with haptics or regular mechanical volume buttons with a capacitive action button and a new capture button.
According to MacRumors, the design with the capacitive action button, mechanical volume buttons, and the new capture button is the most likely. This would be the black model in the renders. Because the capture button would be on the right side of the body, the mmWave antenna would be moved to the left side.
These prototypes also offer us a sense of the colors that Apple will choose, at least for the iPhone 16 base model. Pale yellow, pink, and black are examples. Other colors aren’t known yet, but Apple normally has more than three colors for the base model iPhone, so we should expect more.
Specifications
The A17 chip should be used in the base-model iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. However, it is possible that this is not the same A17 Pro chip found in the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Apple is anticipated to adopt a lower-cost process for a common “A17” processor, which could appear in regular iPhone 16 versions.
Analyst Jeff Pu believes Apple will take a different approach and just call the new CPUs A18 and A18 Pro. This would imply that all iPhone 16 models would include some variant of an A18 chip rather than an A17, which may be considered a “last generation” chip.
While overheating was a problem with the initial iPhone 15 models, Apple claims to have worked on a new thermal design to aid with heat dissipation. For the standard iPhone 16 models, this could take the shape of a graphene thermal system, while the iPhone 16 Pro could feature a metal battery shell. The iPhone currently employs copper heat sinks; however, graphene boasts greater thermal conductivity.
There have been speculations that Apple is developing its own 5G modem chips; however, this will not happen until 2024. Instead, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X75 modem may be used in the iPhone 16 Pro for quicker and more efficient 5G connectivity. However, the base-model iPhone 16 will continue to use the Qualcomm Snapdragon X70 chip, which is currently found in the iPhone 15. The iPhone 16 may potentially use Wi-Fi 7 technology, which can achieve speeds of up to 40 gigabits per second.
Battery
The iPhone 16 Pro versions, which are reported to feature stacked battery technology, may eventually provide longer battery life. Stacking batteries can result in increased capacity and longer lifespans. This could lead to quicker 40W wired and 20W MagSafe charging speeds.
Apple has historically lagged behind its competitors in terms of charging speed. If the iPhone 16 addresses this, we could be in for a fantastic treat.

Vivo V40e Leaks Ahead of September Launch
As Vivo gears up for the launch of its highly anticipated Vivo V40e, leaks and rumors have surfaced, giving tech enthusiasts a glimpse into what to expect. Scheduled for release by the end of September 2024, the Vivo V40e promises to offer a blend of premium features at a more affordable price point. Here’s a detailed look at the leaked specifications and design highlights of this upcoming device.
Design and Display
One of the standout features of the Vivo V40e is its ultra-slim 3D curved design. The device will reportedly be available in a striking “Royal Bronze” color option, giving it a premium look. Its sleek design doesn’t compromise on the display either; the phone is expected to sport an OLED screen with a peak brightness of 4,500 nits. This makes it ideal for both indoor and outdoor use, delivering vibrant colors and sharp details.
Performance
Under the hood, the Vivo V40e is rumored to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset, paired with at least 8GB of RAM. This setup promises smooth performance for everyday tasks and moderate gaming. The device will run on FunTouch OS 14, based on Android 14, ensuring users get the latest software experience right out of the box.
Battery and Fast Charging
Despite its slim profile, the Vivo V40e is expected to pack a large 5,500mAh battery, supported by 80W flash charging. This should offer users extended battery life while significantly reducing charging time, making it a reliable companion for those on the go.
Positioning and Price
The Vivo V40e is designed to cater to the mid-range market, with pricing expected to be lower than its predecessors, such as the Vivo V40 and V40 Pro. While the exact price remains under wraps, analysts predict it will fall within the sub-Rs 30,000 range, making it an attractive option for buyers seeking high-end features at a more affordable price.
The Vivo V40e appears to be a well-rounded smartphone, with its combination of sleek design, powerful performance, and fast charging capabilities. As more details emerge closer to the official launch, it will be interesting to see how the device fares in an increasingly competitive market.
