Google Just Unveiled Flow, an AI Filmmaking Tool That Turns Simple Text Prompts Into Realistic Movie Scenes
Google just launched Flow, a powerful new AI tool that lets anyone create realistic videos from simple text prompts—no need for actors, film sets, or expensive equipment. Announced at Google I/O 2025, Flow is part of Google’s big move into AI-powered creativity, combining several advanced models to help users turn ideas into full movie scenes. It’s now available in the U.S. through a subscription: $19.99/month for the Pro plan, or $249.99 per quarter for AI Ultra, which gives even more access.
At its core, Flow aims to make filmmaking faster, cheaper, and easier for everyone—from amateurs to professionals.
How It Works
Flow is powered by three main AI systems working together:
– Veo: Generates high-quality video clips that look realistic and include things like synced lip movements and scene changes.
– Imagen: Creates ultra-detailed images that bring scenes to life with realistic textures, lighting, and more.
– Gemini: Understands and processes your text prompts to help tell a consistent story across scenes.
You start by writing out what you want to see—for example, “a person running through a rainy street at night.” Flow turns that into a full video scene. If you want to change how a character moves or looks, you just tweak your prompt. The system remembers key details like how the character looks, so they stay consistent from one scene to the next.
You can also tell the AI how to move the camera using familiar film terms like “pan left,” “tilt up,” or “dolly in.” These let you control how each shot is framed and add cinematic flair, just like a real director.
Tools, Features, and Pricing
Flow includes a storyboard editor where you can build and organize scenes. It also has editing tools to adjust pacing, transitions, or visuals. Everything is designed to be drag-and-drop friendly and easy to use, even if you’ve never made a film before.
For inspiration, Flow TV shows a library of example videos made using Flow, complete with the exact prompts used. You can copy and tweak these for your own projects, making it easier to learn and experiment.
The tool also ensures a polished final product by adding smooth transitions between shots—so even if you’re just testing ideas, the result looks clean and professional.
Flow’s two pricing tiers make it accessible: the $19.99/month Pro plan gives access to core features, while the Ultra plan ($249.99 per quarter) unlocks extended functionality for power users.
