Apple Watch Ultra 3 Expected to Receive Minimal Hardware Upgrades

Apple enthusiasts awaiting the next iteration of the Apple Watch Ultra might need to temper their expectations, as recent reports suggest that the upcoming model, tentatively named Apple Watch Ultra 3, is unlikely to feature substantial hardware upgrades. Despite earlier speculation casting doubt on the release of a new Ultra variant this year, insights from renowned Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo indicate otherwise.

Kuo, in correspondence with *MacRumors*, disclosed that while an update for the Apple Watch Ultra is on the horizon for 2024, consumers should anticipate “almost no” significant alterations in terms of hardware when compared to its predecessor, the Apple Watch Ultra 2. Specific details regarding the modifications or enhancements, if any, remain undisclosed at this juncture. However, with the expected launch slated for September, enthusiasts eagerly await further announcements from the tech giant.

In addition to the potential update to the Apple Watch Ultra line, speculation looms over the release of a third-generation Apple Watch SE, following the speculated two-year upgrade cycle. Meanwhile, uncertainties persist regarding the successor to the Apple Watch Series 9. Previous reports from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman hinted at a redesigned “Apple Watch X” featuring a thinner profile and magnetic bands, albeit with a release timeframe extending into 2024 or 2025, casting ambiguity over its imminent launch.

Notwithstanding the anticipated minimal hardware upgrades, industry insiders suggest that future iterations of Apple’s flagship smartwatches, including the Apple Watch Ultra 3, could integrate advanced health-monitoring features such as blood pressure sensing and sleep apnea detection, building upon the technological advancements of previous models.

As the Apple Watch approaches its tenth anniversary since its unveiling in September 2014, enthusiasts and industry analysts alike remain poised for further developments and announcements from the tech giant, eager to witness the evolution of its iconic wearable device lineup.
