Huawei’s Mate XT, the world’s first tri-fold smartphone, has been spotted on UAE’s TDRA certification database, confirming its imminent global release!

Huawei is making strides in the foldable smartphone industry with the Mate XT, its groundbreaking tri-fold smartphone. After an exclusive launch in China in September 2024, speculation regarding its global availability quickly followed. Recent reports now confirm that the Huawei Mate XT has cleared TDRA certification in the UAE, signaling that the device is one step closer to a global release.

TDRA Certification and Global Availability

The Huawei Mate XT, identified by the model number GRL-LX9, has officially appeared in the UAE’s Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) database. The registration number ER41137/25 confirms its certification, which remains valid until January 30, 2028.

For those unfamiliar, TDRA certification is a crucial regulatory step, ensuring that devices meet the necessary telecommunication and sales standards for the UAE market. Since many globally released smartphones first pass through this certification, this strongly suggests that Huawei is preparing the Mate XT for international consumers.

Although the listing does not provide a precise launch date, earlier rumors indicated that the Mate XT could be introduced in Q1 2025. Given that we are already in February, the global rollout could be just a couple of months away.

Huawei Mate XT: Key Specifications and Features

Since the Chinese version of the Mate XT has already been released, the global variant is expected to retain identical hardware and software features.

Display and Form Factor

The Mate XT boasts an innovative tri-fold design, setting it apart from traditional foldable smartphones. It features three display panels, offering different screen sizes depending on how the device is folded:

-Single Screen Mode – 6.4-inch OLED panel (2232 x 1008 pixels)

-Double Screen Mode – 7.9-inch OLED panel (2232 x 2048 pixels)

-Fully Unfolded Mode – 10.2-inch OLED panel (2232 x 3184 pixels)

The display also supports a 120Hz refresh rate, 1440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, and 240Hz touch sampling rate, ensuring smooth scrolling, vivid colors, and a high-quality viewing experience.

Performance and Battery

Under the hood, the Mate XT is powered by Huawei’s in-house Kirin 9010 chipset, delivering flagship-level performance. This is paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage, ensuring seamless multitasking and ample storage for media and apps.

The device is fueled by a 5,600mAh battery, supported by:

-66W wired fast charging

-50W wireless fast charging

-5W wired reverse charging

-7.5W wireless reverse charging

These charging capabilities ensure users get a full day’s power with minimal downtime.

Camera System

Huawei is known for its impressive mobile photography, and the Mate XT continues that legacy. It is equipped with a triple-camera system on the rear:

-50MP primary sensor with f/1.4~f/4.0 variable aperture and OIS (Optical Image Stabilization)

-12MP ultra-wide sensor

-12MP periscope telephoto lens with 5.5x optical zoom

On the front, it houses an 8MP selfie camera designed for high-quality photos, video calls, and AI-enhanced beautification features.

How the Huawei Mate XT Stands Out

The Huawei Mate XT is the world’s first tri-fold smartphone, and its pioneering design gives it a significant edge over competitors. Unlike Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series, which relies on a single fold mechanism, the Mate XT unfolds into a tablet-sized display with more flexibility and versatile use cases.

While Samsung and other brands are rumored to be working on similar tri-folding designs, Huawei appears to be one step ahead by bringing its product to market first. This could give the company a strategic advantage in the premium foldable segment.
