How To Use Find My To locate Your EarPods
The Find My app allows you to view the last known location or the current location of your AirPods.

If your AirPods go missing, you can use Find MY on your iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, or Mac to help you find them. Your AirPods can also be located online at iCloud.com/find. Step-by-step guide on how to use Find My to locate your EarPods.
Intro to using Find My with AirPods
- All AirPods models support Find My, though some might offer extra features to aid in finding them. If you’re not sure which AirPods you have, see Which AirPods do I have?
- You need to activate Find My on a paired device(such as your iPhone or Mac) before they’re lost in order to find your AirPods.
- Please ensure that the most recent version of iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, or macOS is installed on your paired device in order to get the most out of Find My.
- Some AirPods models allow you to track their whereabouts even when they are out of range of your device by turning on the Find My network. If the Find My network is turned off (or if your AirPods don’t support the Find My network), the Find My app shows the last time and place they were connected. See Turn on the Find My Network.
- Your AirPods’ last known location may appear if they are out of range or need to be charged,”No location found,” or “Offline” in Find My. If they come back online, you get a notification on the devices you paired with them.
See the location of your AirPods on a map
The Find My app allows you to view the last known location or the current location of your AirPods.
- On iPhone or iPad: Open the Find My app tap Devices, then tap your AirPods.
- On Apple Watch: Open the Find Devices app, then tap your AirPods (requires a Wi-Fi or cellular connection).
- On Mac: Open the Find My app, click Devices, then select your AirPods.
- On iCloud.com: Go to iCloud.com/find, sign in with your Apple ID, select All Devices, and then select your AirPods.
When your AirPods are separated, you can only view the location of one at a time for most of AirPods models. To find them both, first, locate the one that you see on the map, put it back in its case, and then refresh the map to locate the other one.
If you own the AirPods Pro ( 2nd generation), you see a map with the locations of each AirPod and the charging case.
Play a sound on your AirPods
If your AirPods are not in their case, you can use the sound feature to help you find them. If you have AirPods Pro (2nd generation), you can also play a sound on the charging case.
- On iPhone or iPad: Open the Find My app, tap Devices, tap the name of your AirPods, then tap Play Sound.
- On Apple Watch: Open the Find Devices app choose your AirPods, then tap Play Sound (requires a Wi-Fi or cellular connection).
- On Mac: Open the Find My app, click Devices, select your AirPods, click, then click Play Sound.
- On iCloud.com: Go to iCloud.com/find, sign in with your Apple ID, select All Devices, select your AirPods, and then click Play Sound.
Your AirPods play a sound for a few minutes to help you locate them, or until you stop the sound. If your AirPods aren’t connected to your device and you don’t have the Find My Network turned on, the sound plays the next time they connect to a Wi-Fi or cellular network.
Tip: If your AirPods are separated from each other, you can mute one to make it easier to find them one at a time. While the sound plays on your AirPods, tap or click Left or Right.
Find your AirPods nearby
If your AirPods (3rd generation), AirPods Pro (all generations), or AirPods Max are somewhere close by, like in another room in your house, you can find their location with the use of your iPhone or iPad. If you have AirPods Pro (2nd generation), you can find the precise location of each of your AirPods and the charging case.
1. Open the Find My app on an iPhone or iPad that you previously paired with your AirPods.
2. Tap Devices, tap the name of your AirPods, then tap Find.
3. Locate your AirPods by moving around and following the on-screen instructions.
If you have AirPods Pro (2nd generation), you may see an arrow pointing in the direction of your AirPods, an approximate distance telling you how far away they are, and a message saying if they’re located on a different floor.
You can also play a sound on your AirPods to help you find them nearby. You may have an option to turn on the flashlight, which can help you find your AirPods in a dark environment.
Frequently Asked Questions
1, Q: Can I use Find My to track the movement of my EarPods in real-time?
A: No, Find My does not provide real-time tracking for AirPods. It can only display the last known location when they were connected to your device. The “Play Sound” feature is useful for locating them nearby, but it won’t track their movement.
2. Q: What if my AirPods are offline?
A: If your AirPods are offline, you won’t be able to see their current location on the map. However, you can enable the “Notify When Found” option in the Find My app. Once your EarPods are back online and within Bluetooth range, you will receive a notification with their location.
3. Q: How do I disable the sound on my EarPods once I’ve found them?
A: After using the “Play Sound” feature and locating your EarPods, you can stop the sound by tapping “Stop Playing” in the Find My app, or by picking up your AirPods and closing the case.
4. Q: Can I use Find My with non-Apple devices?
A: Find My is designed for Apple devices. While you can use an iCloud account to log in on the web and see the last known location of your AirPods, the full functionality, including playing a sound, is available only through Apple devices.
