Qualcomm’s New Snapdragon 8s Gen3 Chipset

Qualcomm has unveiled the Snapdragon 8s Gen3, a new chipset offering premium features at a more accessible price point. Positioned between its predecessor, the 8 Gen2, and the top-tier 8 Gen3, this chip boasts a TSMC 4nm process node and a 1+3+4 core configuration, with a prime Cortex-X4 running at 3GHz, four Cortex-A720 cores at 2.8GHz, and three Cortex-A520 cores at 2.0GHz. Alongside an Adreno 735 GPU and support for up to 24GB LPDDR5 RAM at 4,200MHz, it features UFS 4.0, USB 3.1 Gen2, and an X70 5G Modem. Additionally, the chipset integrates Generative AI capabilities via a Hexagon NPU, enabling support for various large language models (LLM) and advanced camera functionalities. Key OEMs like Honor, IQOO, realme, Redmi, and Xiaomi are set to adopt the Snapdragon 8s Gen3, with devices expected to be announced this month.
