WhatsApp introduces new feature to hide your IP address

WhatsApp provides a new function that allows you to hide your IP address and increase your privacy.

WhatsApp, like many other messaging apps, works over the internet, and each user is identified by an Internet Protocol (IP) address. An IP address is a unique numerical identification provided to each device connected to a computer network. In the context of WhatsApp, your device’s IP address is used for communication.

The previous method ensured optimum connection during end-to-end calls by exposing users’ IP addresses hence their live locations. This latest feature on WhatsApp for Android and iOS now allows you to hide your IP address. Using WhatsApp servers, the software can hide your IP address and actual location from the other person during a call. Despite this all calls remain end-to-end encrypted, ensuring that no one, including WhatsApp itself, can listen in on the conversations.

How To Hide Your IP Address

  1. Update to the latest version of WhatsApp.
  2. Open WhatsApp and tap Settings.
  3. Tap Privacy.
  4. Scroll to Advanced.
  5. Select Protect IP address in calls.
