Xiaomi is gearing up to challenge Samsung in the foldable phone market with the upcoming Xiaomi Mix Flip 2. Leaks suggest that this device will feature the largest battery ever in a flip phone, making it a strong competitor to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip series. Additionally, it is expected to be thinner, lighter, and more powerful than its predecessor.

Massive Battery Upgrade

One of the biggest talking points about the Mix Flip 2 is its huge battery capacity, rumored to be between 5,600 mAh and 5,700 mAh. This is a significant jump from the previous Mix Flip’s 4,780 mAh battery, setting a new benchmark for flip phones. If true, Xiaomi’s latest foldable could outperform rivals like the Galaxy Z Flip 5, which only has a 3,700 mAh battery.

Additionally, the Mix Flip 2 is expected to support fast wired charging and wireless charging, making it more convenient for users who prefer a cable-free experience.

Sleeker and Lighter Design

Despite housing a larger battery, leaks indicate that the Mix Flip 2 will be thinner and lighter than its predecessor. Xiaomi appears to have refined the phone’s engineering to improve portability without compromising power. The device will also reportedly feature an IPX8 water resistance rating, ensuring better durability against accidental spills and splashes.

Powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Processor

Under the hood, the Mix Flip 2 is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. This next-gen processor promises enhanced performance, improved energy efficiency, and better AI capabilities. If this leak is accurate, the Mix Flip 2 could be among the most powerful flip phones available.

Improved Display and Cameras

The Mix Flip 2 is rumored to feature a 6.84-inch LTPO foldable display, offering a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth animations and scrolling. Xiaomi is also expected to improve the cover screen, potentially making it larger and more functional than before.

On the camera front, the Mix Flip 2 may include an enhanced main camera setup, possibly featuring a 50MP primary sensor with OIS for improved photography. Given Xiaomi’s history of focusing on camera performance, we can expect notable upgrades in this area.

Early Launch Expected in Q2 2025

Leaks suggest that Xiaomi plans to launch the Mix Flip 2 in Q2 2025, potentially ahead of Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 6. By launching earlier, Xiaomi aims to capture a larger share of the foldable market and challenge Samsung’s dominance in the segment.
