Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE leaks show a similar design to the Z Flip 6

Samsung is gearing up to redefine the foldable smartphone landscape once again—this time, with a stronger focus on affordability. While much of the attention has been on the flagship Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, new reports have surfaced surrounding an unexpected but potentially game-changing addition: the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. Positioned as a more wallet-friendly entry into the world of foldables, the Fan Edition (FE) model could either be a bold move toward mass adoption—or just a recycled version of its predecessor.

As per a leak from TechManiacs, concerns have already begun circulating that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE may not be entirely “new.” Early specifications and leaked renders point to striking similarities with the Galaxy Z Flip 6, leading to speculation that the Flip 7 FE may just be a modest rework of last year’s device rather than a meaningful upgrade.

According to the report, the Flip 7 FE is expected to feature the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset found in the Flip 6, paired with 12GB of RAM. The device will also likely sport a 6.7-inch foldable AMOLED main display and a 3.4-inch Super AMOLED cover screen, both appearing nearly identical to those of the previous generation. Render leaks show a design that mirrors the Flip 6 down to the cover display’s layout and hinge design.

Camera and Battery: Copy-Paste from the Flip 6?

Further adding to the déjà vu, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is rumored to ship with a dual rear camera setup comprising a 50MP main sensor and a 12MP ultra-wide lens, along with a 10MP front-facing camera. These specs align precisely with the Flip 6’s imaging hardware, raising questions about whether any meaningful improvements are coming at all.

Battery life and charging specs are also expected to remain unchanged. The device may include a 4,000mAh battery, capable of 25W wired charging and 15W wireless charging—again, matching last year’s configuration.

Performance: Exynos or Snapdragon? Conflicting Reports

While some sources such as Android Authority and Digital Trends suggest that Samsung might opt for its in-house Exynos 2400e or Exynos 2500 chip to cut costs and improve supply chain efficiency, the TechManiacs report directly contradicts this, stating the Flip 7 FE will retain the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 from the Flip 6.

This discrepancy in processor rumors suggests that Samsung could be planning different chipsets for different regions, as they’ve done in the past. It could also imply that two separate versions of the FE are in development—one as a pure budget option and another as a repackaged Flip 6.

Software and Interface

No matter the hardware, the Flip 7 FE is expected to ship with Android 15 and One UI 7 out of the box. While it may not include all the flagship-exclusive features, essential foldable experiences like Flex Mode, App Continuity, and split-screen multitasking are almost guaranteed.

Durability and Build Quality

A leak suggesting an IP48 rating indicates some compromise in water and dust resistance, which may be another cost-cutting measure to differentiate it from the flagship Flip 7’s likely IPX8 certification. The overall construction might also use less premium materials, although the general look and feel may stay consistent with the Flip 6.

Pricing and Market Strategy

One of the most compelling aspects of the Flip 7 FE is its expected price tag—below €1,000—making it the most accessible Samsung foldable to date. With this move, Samsung appears determined to push foldables into the mainstream, especially in emerging markets and among younger consumers eager to try the form factor without spending over $1,500.

While the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Fold 7 are expected to launch in July 2025, the Flip 7 FE is likely to arrive in Q4 2025. This staggered release allows Samsung to differentiate its premium and budget foldables while maintaining year-round media buzz.
