Apple has announced the release of the HomePod mini in a new color option: Midnight. This new color replaces the previously available Space Gray and is made with 100 percent recycled mesh fabric, an upgrade from the “more than 90 percent” recycled material used in earlier models. The HomePod mini is also available in Blue, Orange, White, and Yellow.

Standing at just 3.3 inches tall, the HomePod mini delivers impressive sound quality in a compact design. Its seamless, acoustically transparent mesh exterior and backlit touch surface make it a stylish and functional addition to any space. The HomePod mini in Midnight will be available starting Wednesday, July 17.

The HomePod mini allows users to access a catalog of over 100 million songs via Apple Music, providing room-filling audio whether used as a single speaker, in a stereo pair, or with multiroom audio. It also enhances entertainment experiences when paired with Apple TV 4K, creating an immersive home theater setup. With Siri integration, users can search for music by artist, song, lyrics, decade, genre, mood, or activity.

Beyond entertainment, the HomePod mini offers smart home capabilities. Users can create automations, receive notifications for smoke or carbon monoxide alarms, check room temperature and humidity, and use the Intercom feature to send announcements throughout the house, all hands-free.

The HomePod mini in Midnight is available to order for $99 (U.S.) from apple.com and the Apple Store app. It will also be available at Apple Store locations in the U.S., Canada, China, Singapore, and 28 other countries and regions starting July 17. Additionally, the new color will be available through Apple Authorized Resellers and select carriers.

This release brings consistency to Apple’s lineup, as the full-sized second-generation HomePod is also available in Midnight. No other changes have been made to the HomePod mini, which remains priced at $99 in the U.S. for all color options.

Apple first released the HomePod mini in November 2020 and has yet to introduce a second-generation model of the speaker.
